The Natural Pavilion, part of the Dutch Innovation Experience at Floriade Expo 2022 in Almere, demonstrates that it is already possible to develop homes, schools and offices on an industrial scale that are fully circular, bio-based, energy-neutral and in close connection with nature. Moreover, the collaborating parties are proving that these can be built at a pace never achieved before. It is the answer to the Floriade theme ‘Growing Green Cities’: a new spatial and social relationship between city and country for the ever-growing urban population worldwide, without depleting Mother Earth. The consortium, led by the Noordereng Group consisted of Heko Spanten, Oosterhoff Group/ABT, DP6 architectuurstudio, Studio Nico Wissing, Hedgehog Company and De Groene Jongens.
For The Natural Pavillion, MOSO® supplied 75 m² of decking boards, including fasteners and four hundred length metres of joists. This was distributed across two terraces in the building. In addition, the company supplied façade cladding to Zwarthout, which charred the façade boards to obtain the charcoal layer. These cladding boards were also applied to the Natural Pavillion. MOSO® has previously worked with The Natural Pavillion’s architect, DP6, on several sustainable projects.
