For façade installations that need to meet the highest fire requirements
MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding are solid boards in various widths for exterior applications made from bamboo strips that have been compressed and thermally modified at 200°C. This unique Thermo-Density® process provides MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® with the highest durability class possible in the propriate EU norms, increases the stability and density, and consequently the hardness. MOSO® has developed Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding in order to meet the most demanding requirements in terms of fire certification.
The standards for the fire classification of facades have become very strict, with the aim of ensuring the highest level of safety, particularly in high-rise buildings. MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Cladding reaches fire safety Class B-s1-d0 (EN 13501-1) and Class A (ASTM E84); this exceptional fire safety is obtained without the impregnation of expensive and environmentally-damaging fire retardants. By using the Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding for your project, there is another advantage in terms of fire resistance: it offers a Class B-s1-d0 (EN 13501-1) certification for the entire installation.
One of the trends of designing a wood bamboo façade is a combination of different to create an appealing and unique design. Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding boards are available in several dimensions: 65, 100, 136 (for the Grad system), 137 and 155 mm, offering the ultimate freedom of design. Each board is 1850 mm long, 18 mm thick (standard Closed) and 20 mm thick to fit to the Grad system . Thanks to an end-match system, visually endless lengths can be created. A special version of the 155 mm board has been developed to achieve the fire classification of the closed cladding profile, while having the appearance of a façade with spacing between the boards dur to the false groove.
Maintenance of a façade is a key element when choosing of material. Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding does not require periodic maintenance at all. With time and weathering, the board will gradually turn grey, giving the façade a natural and elegant look. MOSO® Closed Cladding offers two installation options: a standard installation with hidden screws or on the Grad system.
A special board has been developed to enable the installation of Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding on the Grad system. The Grad installation system is a patented and unique solution to install Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding quick and easy on aluminium rails with hidden and removable clips. The system allows an exact installation to obtain the most precise final result with an incredible design. Installation on the Grad system makes the facade cladding circular and future-proof, since the cladding boards and installation system can be easily separated and recycled.
MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding does not require periodic maintenance at all, this is a significant time and money saving advantage. Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding withstands temperature changes with hardly any shrinking and swelling. Thanks to the extremely high stability, the boards will stay flat and in place, unlike other natural materials. The original characteristics of the material rival the best hardwoods. Like any tropical hardwood species, when exposed to outdoor conditions, Bamboo X-treme® will turn grey over time creating a very natural look.
As we see more and more building façades being created with non-renewable materials, our belief in bamboo as the construction material of the future grows. Moso bamboo stems, which are used for MOSO® Bamboo X-treme® Closed Cladding, are mature after just 4-5 years. After harvesting, the bamboo plant does not die and no deforestation takes place. On the contrary, the rhizome sprouts new stems even faster. Due to this, bamboo can be harvested annually and bamboo forestry is sustainable and fair trade for the farmers by default. MOSO® Bamboo Products are the sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood and non-renewable materials.
